Today, all around the world, people are celebrating World Sleep Day. This day is annually celebrated on the third Friday of March, News Nine reported.
The day was first observed by the World Sleep Society in 2008 to create awareness about the importance of sleep and issues revolving around it. Since then, the day is annually celebrated.
For this year, the theme is “Quality Sleep, Sound Mind, Happy World”.
Healthcare professionals and members of the medical community who study sleep medicine started the journey.
The first co-chairs of World Sleep Day were Liborio Parrino, Associate Professor of Neurology at Parma University, Antonio Culebras, Professor of Neurology, at Upstate Medical University, and Consultant, The Sleep Center, Community General Hospital, USA.
World Sleep Day has managed to address and counter many myths regarding sleep.
Next year, the day will be celebrated on March 17, 2023.
