The United Kingdom provides security screeners to the CAA.

According to information, the UK government funded PCAA with computer-based inspection tools and training programmes for airline security screens.

Mr Mohammad Abdul Gaffar, First Secretary Aviation, UK High Commission Islamabad, handed over the equipment to Air Cdre Retd Shahid Qadir, Director Aviation Security, PCAA, and Airport Manager Mr Aftab Gillani in front of aviation sector representatives. Mr Gaffar reaffirmed the UK DfT’s commitment to assisting PCAA in its efforts to improve aviation security measures in Pakistan. He also praised the PCAA on its great achievement in the recently completed ICAO full-scale audit.

The provision of the computer-based Threat Image Recognition training curriculum and its hardware to PCAA means that it will be able to meet another ICAO requirement of checking screeners in the aviation industry, including airlines, ASF, cargo, and so on, using a computer-based system.

This cooperation initiative demonstrates both organisations’ commitment to improving aviation security regulatory capacities by aligning them with the standards established by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). The training programme not only represents a step forward in boosting aviation security measures, but it also demonstrates the UK and Pakistan’s long-standing relationship in supporting safe and secure air travel.

The Department for Transport – UK has a history of assisting the PCAA in a variety of ways, including equipment distribution, training initiatives, and knowledge sharing in aviation security domains.

This latest donation strengthens the two bodies’ friendly relationship, reinforcing the UK’s commitment to continue assisting the PCAA in its efforts to maintain the highest standards of aviation security.

The computers donated would be used to run the computer-based training course, which would improve the screening procedure. The CBT “Threat Image Recognition Training” from the Redline firm, which also works for the UK DfT, will be used by the Directorate of Aviation Security across the whole aviation industry in Pakistan.

As the aviation landscape changes, communication and collaboration among international regulatory organisations are critical. The Department for Transport – UK is still dedicated to encouraging mutual assistance and exchanging best practices to enhance the safety and security of global air transport networks. The PCAA Aviation Security system has already rewarded the government by passing the recently completed first full-scale audit of Pakistan’s aviation security system. PCAA has reached another milestone with the acquisition of this system with UK DfT support.

On the occasion of the May 9 anniversary, CM Maryam stated, “The May 9 mayhem is the blackest chapter in the country’s history.” Even the opponents cannot replicate what those seeking power did on May 9.”

CM Maryam insisted: “Those who attempted to weaken the country have been exposed. They [the May 9 perpetrators] do not deserve to be forgiven for causing harm to the country for political purposes.”

“Those who have maligned the martyrs are not aware of their [martyrs] status,” she explained.

According to the information, the premier presided over a special meeting of the federal cabinet. The Prime Minister brought up the May 9 disturbances on this occasion. “Despite the passing of one year, the people of the country have not forgotten their culprits,” he added.

Asif said, “On one side are the heroic sons, their families, and the patriotic masses. On the other side, there are people who have nothing to do with the national interest.”

On the first anniversary of the May 9 vandalism, federal Minister for Privatization Aleem Khan paid tribute to the country’s martyrs.

Aleem Khan stated, “I have a lot of respect for the Pakistan Army. The country exists because of its strong and powerful army.”

The president of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) praised the country’s martyrs’ sacrifices.

On Thursday, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq declared that May 9 will be regarded as the darkest day in the country’s history.

Sadiq condemned the events that occurred on May 9, last year, saying: “The enraged group had attacked military installations.”

He stated: “The attack was an attempt to weaken the institutions and challenge the writ of the state.”

He further stated: “The violent activities under the guise of the protest cannot be tolerated.”

“Any attempt to weaken the country is unacceptable. Sadiq claimed that one party and one individual had destroyed the country in order to achieve their wicked goals.

Sadiq argued that: “Any matter can be resolved by sitting in the parliament and holding talks.”

He continued: “There is a need to make joint efforts to bid farewell to the politics of division and hatred.”

“Anarchy, imbroglio are the biggest obstacles to the development of the country,” he continued.

He stated that “It is deplorable to launch a maligning campaign against the state institutions.”

“The May 9 culprits will have to be answerable according to the law,” according to him.

Sadiq urged all political parties to promote democratic principles.
