The Met Office predicted rain for Karachi and surrounding areas starting this evening.

A second strong westerly wave was expected to enter the country on April 16th night in the western regions, according to the Met Office. This wave is expected to hit most of Balochistan today, April 17, and move into the higher regions of the nation on April 18.

For the night of April 17–19, the weather service is predicting rain and a windstorm or thunderstorm in the districts of Sindh that include Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, Dadu, Qambar Shahdad Kot, Jamshoro, and Sanghar.

In Balochistan’s Gwadar, Kech, Awaran, Chagai, Kharan, Awaran, Lasbella, Khuzdar, Kalat, Nushki, Mastung, and other districts, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted heavy rainfall along with wind and thunderstorms from April 16 to 19.

The weather system is also expected to bring rainfall to the areas of Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir from April 18 to 22, as well as to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab from April 17 to 21.

Prognosticators describe the country’s record April rainfall and powerful pre-monsoon currents as exceptional, pointing to climate change as the primary cause of these extreme weather patterns.
