The 22-year-old Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa native Hadiqa Bashir is the first Pakistani recipient of the esteemed Global Citizen Youth Leader Award.

As the creator of Girls United for Human Rights and a committed activist, Hadiqa is leading the charge in her community to advance gender equality and women’s rights.

She demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainable development through a variety of initiatives that address issues like early marriage, sexual health, education, poverty alleviation, and climate change. She also highlights the transformative potential of education, particularly in tribal Pakistani communities.

Hadiqa Bashir has been named a Global Fellow for gender equality and acknowledged as a young leader for the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

Her persistent dedication to gender equality has been recognized with various prizes, such as the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Award, the Acumen Fellow Award, and the Asian Girls Ambassador Award.

Through her advocacy work and leadership, Hadiqa consistently advances social justice and sustainable development in Pakistan, embodying the concept of positive change.

Hadiqa is one of the 32 recently chosen beneficiaries of the 2024 Global Citizen Youth Leaders Award, who come from Australia and the larger Asia-Pacific region. They are making a difference in addressing global issues like violence, hunger and poverty on the rise, and climate change.

Details indicate that the PECA Act 2024 has authorised the creation of the Digital Rights Protection Agency (DRPA).

Following Cabinet approval, the revised PECA Bill will be introduced in Parliament.

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications has reportedly considering creating a Digital Rights Protection Authority (DRPA) under PECA 2016 in order to address dynamic digital vulnerabilities, according to sources citing the document approved by the Law Reforms Committee of the Cabinet.

According to the bill, the Digital Rights Protection Agency’s implementation would be handled by the Ministry of IT.

The authorities will look into legal infractions on social media and prosecute anyone who break the recently passed PECA law.

Those implicated in digital rights violations may be called in and questioned by the Digital Rights Authority.

It is important to note that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Authority was established by an SRO issued by the Ministry of IT last week.

The announcement states that the agency will be led by a 21-grade or higher rank officer who will not be older than 63 in the role of Director General.

There will be more directors, additional director generals, and additional directors at the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency.

Assistant Directors and other required positions will also be formed in accordance with the agency’s makeup. The federal government will designate the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency’s Director General for a two-year term.

The federal cabinet has chosen to draft legislation in relation to the May 9 incident in light of the findings.

All of the cabinet members insisted that the criminal cases against the May 9 violence’s perpetrators be pursued to their inevitable end.

The cabinet members questioned why the perpetrators of the May 9 incidents had not yet been punished, but those involved in the Capital Hill incident had received punishment.

Today is the first anniversary of May 9, the day that attacks on military sites began in response to the detention of PTI founder Imran Khan.

After agitated rioters vandalised military posts and other private and public buildings on May 9, 2023, the government launched a harsh crackdown on PTI founder Imran Khan and his party.

May 9 was designated as “Black Day” by the Pakistan Army in response to the violent protests.

The Rawalpindi district government declared on Wednesday that Thursday will be “Black Day” in a notification.

May 9 is marked solemnly to demonstrate our dedication to safeguarding our nation’s high-security assets and honouring the honour of our valiant armed personnel.

Various ceremonies were held for professors and students in all educational institutions to emphasise the significance of May 9 as “Black Day.”
