ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan said Saturday he thanks God that he will not have to see the faces of dissident PTI MPs again on the eve of the National Assembly’s vote on the no-confidence motion against him.

“Whenever they [dissident MPs] came to me before the budget, I would first take two tablets of disprin. Then they would ask me for several things,” PM Imran Khan told the government lawmakers during a dinner at the PM House, where according to sources, 140 lawmakers were present.

The prime minister applauded the members who “stood by his side, for the country and the future of their kids”, as he told them that “they will be remembered in history for not accepting bribes”.

The PTI effectively lost its majority in the 342-member National Assembly Wednesday when a coalition partner — MQM-P — said its seven lawmakers would vote for the Opposition alliance. Before them, several other allies and PTI MNAs had switched sides.

“I am observing your gestures and it seems that you are here to give me a farewell like this is our last dinner,” the prime minister said passing a quipping remark. “Don’t worry until the last bowl is bowled; your captain might pull off something unusual.”

In a rather open admission, Tariq said, “It just happened.” There isn’t any backstory.

She continued, “I’ve always wanted to watch myself on screen and to know if people would like to see me or not.”

Acting in dramas has always been my dream. But earlier, I was preoccupied with my schoolwork. “I moved from Lahore to Karachi to start working in dramas here so soon after finishing my studies,” the celebrity continued, adding that she began with advertisements before receiving offers for dramas after being approached through her Instagram handle.

“No, I’m the first one,” Tariq insisted when asked if she had any family members in the entertainment industry. Although it took me about a year to win my family’s approval, they are now all incredibly supportive and delighted.

Notably, Hina Tariq co-stars in the upcoming television series “Bharam” alongside Omer Shahzad and Rabya Kulsoom. Zainab Raza Afzal Khan, Muhammad Ahmed, Salma Hassan, Babar Ali, Arjuman Rahim and Zarafshan Aamir and Ahsan are also part of the title’s supporting cast.
