The PPP declared last month that while it would support the PML-N candidate for prime minister, it would not participate in the federal government.

According to insiders, PPP leadership will meet with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and other senior PML-N officials to discuss Ishaq Dar’s proposal to join the federal cabinet.

PPP has repeatedly rejected to join the federal government, hence opinions on entering the Shehbaz-led federal cabinet remain mixed.

Shortly before Asif Ali Zardari was elected as the nation’s fourth president last month, the PML-N, led by its leader Nawaz Sharif and featuring Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif among others, decided to approach the PPP once more about being included in the federal cabinet.

At the meeting, PM Shehbaz promised to speak with Zardari following his victory to the presidency.
