After nine days, transportation on the Harnai-Sibi railway section has resumed.

The recent flash floods in Balochistan caused by abnormally high rainfall caused damage to the railway track.

Following a nine-day break in train service, the railways repaired and restored the track.

It should be noted that, following an 18-year period of railway traffic restriction, Pakistan Railways’ Harnai-Sibi segment was reopened for train operation in October of last year. In February 2006, the railroad track was closed.

A succession of bomb bombings in the extremely difficult-to-reach and rocky location damaged 22 steel bridges, rendering the railway’s track unusable.

An award was made to the NLC in March 2016 for the rehabilitation and restoration of the Sibi-Harnai railway track and the upgrading of railway stations.

In order to restore train service, it was discovered during the track’s initial examination that 22 steel bridges had been destroyed and needed to be replaced.

A railway official stated that NLC engineers had upgraded nine railway stations and their associated tracks. These included the reconstruction of Harnai Railway Station and the full renovation of Sibi Railway Station.
